How To Change The Band On Apple Extreme Router To 2.4 GHz?

All the technical experts or technocrats always prefer using a 2.4 GHz frequency band because it has better range than 5 GHz band. Although, the routers available in the market today have built-in 2 different bands 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. These are called dual-band routers.

You need to separate 5 GHz from 2.4 GHz band in order to let it work properly. During sync function, both the mobile device and another device must be connected to the 2.4 GHz signal.

You can separate the 5 GHz frequency band completely from 2.4 GHz band by opening the router settings and changing the SSID name. After this, connect the router to the 2.4 GHz band on phone and another device.

First of all, you need to check whether your router has both the bands or not.

Go to the router configuration page of your AirPort Extreme Setup:

You will find the configuration page of every router from where you can change the settings or personalize according to your choice. Every router has a unique IP address that you can enter into the web browser address bar.

The most common IP used in every router is 192.168.1.1. Once you enter this address, you will find the username and password box appeared on the screen. The default login details are available on the sticker pasted on the Airport extreme router.

Username: Admin

Password: blank or admin. This varies from router to router.

Once you login to the page, you can easily change the settings of the router.

Radio modes: The B, G, mixed, B/G mixed are compatible modes of radio. N- Not compatible with all the devices.

Bandwidth: 20/40 both the bandwidth are OK, you can select any one.

Security: Use WPA or WPA 2 with a recommended password of at least 10 characters.

Mac Filtering: It must be disabled.

DNS: It should be 8.8.8.8

After configuring these settings, you can successfully save the same on your router.
